New Backcountry Bowhunting Gear Essentials

SEVR Titanium 2.1

Tip your tapered Easton arrows with a razor-sharp two-blade broadhead designed to penetrate deep and carve incredible wound channels. SEVR's Titanium 2.1 is a rear-deploying head that flies like a field point and cuts like a razor. On impact, patented Lock-and-Pivot blades lock open and then pivot around bone to maximize penetration and ensure the head achieves a true 2.1-inch cut. Best of all, perhaps, is the fact that you can practice with the same heads you plan to fill your quiver with. Simply add an additional screw into the ferrule and the blades won’t deploy. MSRP: $14

Nikon Monarch 3000

Nikon Monarch 3000

Capable of measuring big game out to 1,000 yards, the Nikon Monarch 3000 Rangefinder is small, ergonomic, and functional. The unit’s Stabilized Function reduces vibration caused by nervous/shaky hands (like when a 6x6 comes in range). The red internal display provides immediate, easy-to-read digits. First Target Priority Mode displays the distance of the closest subject, while Distant Target Priority allows you to range the farthest subject. MSRP: $420

Easton Taper T64

Easton Taper T64

Easton cooked up a tapered shaft that boosts FOC (Front of Center) by 30 percent, reduces friction, and increases downrange penetration. Beginning at the insert end with a 6mm diameter and ending at the nock end with a 4mm diameter, the carbon-core shaft is wrapped in a blanket of 7075 aluminum and has been straightened to the highest industry specifications (+/- 3 milliradians). The Taper T64 promises unparalleled accuracy, quiet flight, and bone-busting penetration. MSRP: $299 per 12

ALPS OutdoorZ Hybrid X

ALPS OutdoorZ Hybrid X

The HYBRID X from ALPS does double-duty: Strap the 45-liter nylon pack to the aluminum frame to haul in gear and meat out, or use the aluminum frame independently. The frame features a meat loading shelf and wing-style pockets to compress small and large loads. The top-loading pack features a front pocket for easy access to the main compartment and a drop-down rifle and bow pocket, while the waist belt includes additional pockets and anti-sway straps. MSRP:$250

Mathews Vertix

Mathews Vertix

Finally ready to retire that tough old Switchback? It’s not easy to find a smoother-drawing compound than the Mathews Vertix, which can change draw weights from 50 to 75 pounds in 5-pound increments. A new Engage grip was designed to ensure consistent hand placement, reducing torque and increasing accuracy. The bow is 30” axle-to-axle, with a 6” brace height and a 343 fps IBO rating. MSRP: $1,099
